2026 CEGA Championship

Organization for the 2026 CEGA Championship was dialed as usual. The courses were handpicked at least three weeks in advance of the weekend, the lodging was confirmed with at least two weeks to go, and the A-Dub ball theme was selected on the drive to Truckee: AI Doomsday! This year's participants included:

  • ShatGPT (Andy Barbano)

  • Machine Learning, Human Sucking (Jimmy Summers)

  • Large Language, Small Balls (Tommy Lewis)

  • Prompt Engineering, Shit Golfing (Bryan Segale)

  • Powered by AI, Screwed by Swing (Danny Pease)

  • DeepFake, Deep Rough (Zach Wells)

  • Artificial Intelligence, Natural Slice (Brady Boss)

  • The algorithm says, "You’re fucked" (Greg Lau)

  • Machine Learning, Ball Losing (Mike Martin)

  • Prompt. Swing. Pray. (Jeb Boss)

  • pAId by Anflopit (Weyer)

Despite Scooby's efforts to save the day after an errant opening tee shot, yours truly pumped his ball into the shit a second after skulling a wedge over the green. Perhaps I should have hit the range instead of marking A-Dub balls. Bryan Segale ultimately outlasted the field by maintaining his ball through most of Round 2. Perhaps I should have named his ball, "Prompt Engineering, Not That Shitty Golfing."

Danny Pease wrapped up the Team Points competition in Round 2. Congratulations and lets get that cap down in 2027!

In any evening of dirty beats, the first 5 or 6 players knocked out of the tourney got rivered after dominating pre-flop. Tommy Lewis finally got caught "riding dirty" in poker but managed to finish Third and continued to beat the odds with a Whoomp! (There It Is) run for the ages in Greed. Danny Pease took down Second (after knocking out my ladies with 86s earlier in the evening...prick ; ), and Zach Wells took home the trophy to kickoff a very profitable weekend.

Brady started Round 3 at Coyote Moon with the lead and a natural birdie on Hole 1. Zach nipped at his heels for most of the round but couldn't quite track him down and ultimately finished 2nd. With a seven-shot victory, Bend It claimed his first CEGA Championship trophy...well-deserved!

After a stellar season, Greg started the weekend with the POTY lead. Given that Brady ran away with the tourney and Zach finished second, only Jeb had a mathematical chance to nab enough points to knock Gregor off his perch. Standing in his way were Segale and Weyer. While both threw up a couple big numbers, they scraped together enough solid holes to finish third and fourth, respectively. Congrats to Greg for winning his first POTY and CEGA Cup captainship.

Rounding out the awards was Weyer with back-to-back Most Improved trophies. Thanks for an amazing season, everyone...from PJs to Bandon and chip offs in the dark, it was legendary!

P.S. We moved the CEGA Cup to 11/14-11/15 given a captain's scheduling conflict. The current qualifiers are:
